A History of PABA
The Plover Area Business Association, Inc. was organized for educational and charitable purposes with articles of incorporation filed in March, 1984, as a 'not-for-profit' under provisions of Chapter 181 of Wisconsin Statutes and organized exclusively for the charitable, educational and public welfare purposes under section 501 (c) (3) of the Internal Revenue Code (IRC).
Formative activities that led to the formation of this organization date back to the late 1970's as efforts were being made to give Plover businesses a stronger voice in the Stevens Point Chamber of Commerce. Described as espousing behavior that is 'chamber-like', PABA's primary activities have long centered around building and promoting the greater Plover community in a pro-business climate and intending to be the 'unified voice' of the business community within the geography served.
Over the years, literally hundreds of local business persons have represented the organization in serving on the Board of Directors, PABA Backers (the welcoming arm) and in numerous other ways as active volunteers of the association.
